About Students' Scientific Society

The Students' Scientific Society at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, is a vibrant student-led organization dedicated to fostering a spirit of scientific inquiry, innovation, and research excellence among undergraduate and postgraduate students. Established with the vision of nurturing future physician-scientists and medical leaders, the society serves as a platform for budding minds to explore, engage, and contribute to the world of medical science beyond the traditional curriculum.

Through a variety of academic events, workshops, conferences, journal clubs, and research initiatives, the society encourages students to develop critical thinking, research methodology skills, and scientific communication abilities. Members have consistently excelled at national and international forums, upholding AFMC’s tradition of academic brilliance. The society also plays a pivotal role in organizing Illuminati, AFMC’s national undergraduate medical conference, providing students across India a platform to showcase their research and clinical acumen

Updates Corner

- Students Scientific Society participated and secured 2nd position at Undergraduate Symposium at ENVIMEDCON 2025 at INHS Asvini and M/Cdt Sambhav Singh secured best speaker

- Students and faculty of AIIMS Gorakhpur visited the three halls of Students Scientific Society

- 5 cadets of the society got their posters presented at the 22nd International Myeloma Society (IMS) Annual Meeting ,Toronto ,Canada

- Illuminati 2025 was conducted from 5th – 6th May 2025 with a total of 1342 students from 81 medical colleges and 3 engineering colleges across the country.

- 5 cadets have been selected to present poster at the 22nd Annual Conference of International Myeloma Society , Toronto, Canada.

- 1 cadet has been selected for Clinical Infectious Disease Society’s 15th Annual Conference in Mumbai.

- Anusandhan, the Undergraduate Hall of Fame, was inaugurated by Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, AVSM, PVSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, on 28th March 2024.

- Aakarjan, the 3D printing lab, and Anveshan, the dry tinkering lab, were inaugurated by Surg Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, AVSM, VSM, Director General Armed Forces Medical Services, on 22nd April 2025.
